Ernehale Junior School has been graded a GOOD school during its recent Ofsted inspection.

The report said the school has 鈥榟igh expectations of what pupils can achieve, personally and academically鈥� going on to say, 鈥楶upils know that their teachers believe in them and are there to help them reach their full potential. In lessons pupils give their complete attention. They are ready to answer their teachers鈥� questions, share their opinions or read confidently in front of their peers.鈥�

The school is praised in the report for prioritising reading and bringing learning to life for pupils. Staff were found to demonstrate high levels of care for their pupils. It said, 鈥楶upils enjoy school and attend well. They unanimously agree that they would recommend Ernehale Junior School to a friend.鈥�

Inspectors said children鈥檚 manners were 鈥榮uperb鈥� stating, 鈥楾hey greet visitors politely, ask how their day is and offer to shake hands. They get on well together. They encourage each other to follow the school鈥檚 values: 鈥榓im high, be their best and to choose kindness鈥�.鈥�

The school鈥檚 curriculum is described as 鈥榟ighly ambitious鈥� and 鈥榙esigned to provide pupils with a deep understanding of each subject.鈥� The report says, 鈥楾he curriculum is planned with meticulous care. Staff know precisely what they need to teach and when. Teachers ensure that pupils remember vital learning from previous lessons. Each lesson begins with a 鈥榬eactivate鈥� task so that pupils have opportunities to recall this key knowledge. Pupils understand why this is important. One pupil said: 鈥業t gets our brains learning鈥�.鈥�

鈥楶upils鈥� wider development is prioritised鈥� said the report, 鈥楶upils develop leadership skills that will: 鈥榚mpower them to make a difference鈥�.鈥�

Safeguarding was found to be effective at the school.
